Description: V-J Day in Times Square" is a famous photograph taken by Victor Jorgensen on August 14, 1945, portraying a U.S. Navy sailor embracing and kissing a dental assistant, a complete stranger, in New York City's Times Square to celebrate Victory over Japan Day ("V-J Day"). The photograph was published a week later in Life magazine, along with a collection of images showcasing celebrations across the United States in a 12-page section titled "Victory Celebrations." One of the two-page spreads features a montage of three similar photographs capturing celebrators in Washington, D.C., Kansas City, and Miami. Opposite these images is the iconic photograph captured by Eisenstaedt, given a full-page display on the right-hand side. The photograph has come to symbolize the joy and relief felt by Americans on V-J Day, marking the end of World War II.
