Description: The black-and-white photograph, "Lunch atop a Skyscraper," was taken on September 20, 1932, featuring eleven ironworkers perched on a steel beam 850 feet above the ground on the sixty-ninth floor of the RCA Building in Manhattan, New York City. The photograph was part of a publicity campaign promoting the skyscraper and was first published in October 1932 during the construction of Rockefeller Center. In 2016, it was acquired by the Visual China Group.
Although the identity of the photographer remains unknown, evidence has emerged indicating that it may have been Charles C. Ebbets. However, other photographers were also present at the shoot. While some of the men in the photograph have been identified, many remain unknown. Despite this, the image is considered a significant piece of American history, as it captures the spirit of the brave and skilled ironworkers who built the city's iconic skyscrapers.
